WHAT TO WEAR / WEEKEND GETAWAY

weekend_getaway_3Last weekend, my boyfriend and I had a little getaway in Montreal. Right before leaving the weather was greyish so I overdressed myself and put on my classic rain boots. When we got there, the sun was shining like it hasn’t been in a long time, and I was stuck in a buttoned-up shirt and my sweaty feet in hot rubber boots. We walked long enough to make me regret my choices about a hundred times. This inspired me to create a comfy outfit I would have loved to wear that day! Lately, I have had a major obsession with embroidery, and this shift dress seems like a dream come true. Topshop, you got me once again.

Oil pulling for dental care

Oil_Pulling_2

If you haven’t heard about oil pulling by now, you probably don’t dig through the Internet looking for beauty tips like I do! Luckily for me, I can convince you to try this weird dental hygiene trick.

I first heard about it through The Beauty Department, and my curiosity led me to search the whole web for reviews on that amazingly-rated teeth whitening technique. By the end of the day, I had bought a jar of cold-pressed coconut oil from the nearest natural product store (according to many reviews this oil is definitely the best, but you could also use sunflower or sesame oil).

Now, I guess you’re wondering what the hell I am talking about here, right? Oil pulling is a very old technique used to remove bacteria from your mouth and gums and also has the power to whiten your teeth. Natural and harmless? Yes! Here’s how:

From my closet / embroidered lace top

outfit_7

Last summer, I decided to finally jump in and have this vintage twin-lens camera tattooed on my forearm. I had been dreaming about it long enough to make sure I wouldn’t have an ounce of regret, and I haven’t. I honestly thought getting used to it would have taken longer. Along with this recent addition to my body came a slight personal style adaptation. Heavy printed patterns like all over florals just don’t fit anymore, so I prefer going for more elegant flowy silky fabrics, embroidery textured pieces, soft patterns or classic plain t-shirts.

Lately, Sammy Dress kindly sent me this flattering embroidered lace blouse, and I couldn’t dream of a better piece to dress up a comfy office outfit. I paired it with the most comfortable jeggings in the whole world (if you guys think jeans are cozy, you probably never slipped in a pair of those), and my favorite cut-out flats from a Montreal-based vintage shop called 1861.

I’ve had an ongoing crush on that ring ever since I bought it with Roxane. It has such a joyful vibe, don’t you agree? (I wore it for that style post as well, remember?).

I am really pleased with my new Kate Spade frames as well. From the moment I tried them on, I just knew I couldn’t find any better for my everyday eyewear. Out of the three available colors, I picked tortoise because it’s a little lighter than massive black on my narrow face and they still match every thing I wear!

MY HEART-WARMING SPRING PLAYLIST

Lately, the weather has been reminding me how much rainy days get me down. I read somewhere that I probably suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, resulting in lack of energy and motivation along with a craving for sweets and weight gain. Do any of you feel like that too? I feel like this is endless! Anyways, I’ve made a springy playlist out of my recently favorite heart-warming songs to make me feel like we’re not actually skipping my favorite season this year! ha! I’m so thankful for music in these times! (Click through to listen to the playlist!)

Paper porn / Present & Correct

presentcorrect_1

If you’ve been reading this blog for while, you probably noticed that I am quite obsessed with paper goods. To be honest, nothing satisfies me like fun stationary and clever office essentials. I discovered Present & Correct a while back and can’t understand why I haven’t shared this on this blog yet! This London-based shop is as refreshing as this interview with its founder, Neal Whittington, who started his business in 2008. With it’s brilliant and consistent branding and finely curated goods, it’s no wonder why this shop is so successful! If my wallet could only agree, I’d probably buy every item they offer, starting with those brass number paper clips! NEED this!

What’s your favorite item?

Inspiring work / Emily Blincoe

Colors are a major part of my work and everyday life. I find great pleasure in picking color palettes for my designs or bringing together colorful outfits from my closet. When I discovered Emily Blincoe’s work through her blog, I fell in love with her outfit montages for Gap Styled.by, an online project inviting fashion bloggers to share how they style their Gap clothes. Emily’s work is just fun and refreshing, don’t you think?

This pink palette puts me in such a good mood! Now I want to organize everything I own by color!

Mix&Match / denim overall

mixmatch2

There’s something about the denim & stripes match, don’t you think? As if it was meant to be! And since I have this everlasting obsession with denim overalls, it just feels natural to mix a striped jersey with this beloved statement piece. Oh and have I been clear enough about my love for rain boots? This would definitely complete my dream outfit today, with the rainy-but-kinda-warm weather. How I wish the sun would shine! Until then, carrying my mustard shoulder bag seems like a good way to brighten up my day.

Fun fact / Last week, one of my coworker wore about the exact same outfit. I showed her my drawing, we had a good laugh about it and we ended up assuming we had very similar tastes for outfits.

Hope you guys are having a wonderful (and not so rainy) week so far! xx

Cheers! / Collaborating with Help Ink

Remember my post about watercolor quotes? Help Ink recently asked me to collaborate with them on an inspiring typographic watercolor design for prints and cards. For those who aren’t familiar with Help Ink, it’s a collaborative project, using the sale of premium and exclusive art to help charities in an exciting way. For every 5 dollars spent, 1$ goes directly for a good cause. Awesome, isn’t it? You’d guess I was more than pleased to team up with them on such a cool project! So here’s the final result:

help ink cheershelp ink cheers

It’s called Cheers and I decided to go with a quote that simply represents pure happiness for me, through small and unsuspected pleasures, like having a banana milkshake. I’ve always been drawn to this idea of gathering and enjoying all the little pleasures in life instead of waiting for the big happy circumstances.

My print is actually on new-release sale, so better catch it before it’s back to normal price! You can buy it here. & see all the products here. Please, let me know if you buy it, and I’d be more than happy to see a picture of where you hung it! Make sure you check out the other projects too, there are some pretty amazing artists out there! (and I do have to mention my favorite typographer; Jessica Hische!)

Finally, a big thanks to Help Ink for this collaboration! Cheers!

Fav beauty products from Ipsy (so far)

Remember my posts about beauty boxes? After being suscribed to Topbox for about 6 months, I decided to try another company I’ve been referred to by a friend; Ipsy. Very similar to all of those beauty box company, delivering beauty products samples to you each month, Ipsy has something more; it’s packaged in a different oh-so-pretty glam bag every time. It costs 16$/bag (shipped to you door) but I can guarantee the products are worth the price! I’ve been more than pleased with every bag so far and I can’t get myself to unsubscribing, even if my drawers are loader with cosmetics. It’s insane! It’s been 7 or 8 months since I received my first glam bag and I wanted to share some of my very favorite products so far!

ipsy favorites

1. Benefit’s porefessional balm
One word? magical! This awesome product is a pre-foundation balm made to minimize the appearance of pores. The texture is insanely soft and it works like magic on skin! You definitely have to try this.

Believe me, I’ve tried MANY brands of nailpolishes but this one has reached #1 in my heart! Easy to apply, no lumps or bumps and lasts about a week without chipping. I’ve received two shades so far but this soft lilac is my very favorite!

3. Mica shimmer powder
It’s sold as an eye shadow but I use it as a soft glow on my upper cheeks. Simply love the shimmer!

7. Cailyn eye liner
I always wear black eyeliner so when I first unpacked this purple gel eyeliner with a built-in brush, I have to admit I was unsure. Now i’m just obsessed with how good my eyes look with it! Definitely my #1 eyeliner up-to-date.
