Clearly Contacts Style Ambassador

MM_Clearly_1 MM_Clearly_2

Hey there! This is week is kind of a busy one for me, but I wanted to drop by and tell you that I am a proud new style ambassador for Clearly Contacts (you know, the online glasses retailer where I ordered those amazing Derek Cardigan frames?)! You might have seen this picture on my instagram, too! It’s my Style ambassador kit, that contained the charming Vogue frames that I’m wearing above (I was hesitant at first but I’m glad I chose a not-so-classic pair in the end)! I’m currently working on a few style post and projects to show you a few ways to wear statement glasses like these, so make sure you keep an eye out, I’ll share all of this soon !

Hope you guys are having a great week so far! xx

What to wear / spring window shopping

Outfit Sheinside

SOOOOO glad the sun finally decided to show up his nose a little these days! For this what-to-wear post, I decided to put together a perfect spring-window-shopping outfit entirely (or almost) out of an online shop that I discovered lately: Sheinside. This China-based online retailer offers a vast selection of fresh street styles at low prices, which I can tell, from a peek at a coworker’s order, looks like good quality for such affordable prices! What about a playful color palette, bold yellow accents and a lovely watermelon t-shirt? I could totally see myself spending my entire summer days in such happy outfits !

Shop these on Sheinside: watermelon t-shirt / ripped shorts / yellow bag / bracelet / white oxfords

Psst ! If you like the comfort & prettiness of summer dresses, make sure you check out their dresses section as well! So many great choices for less than $30 !

From my closet / glasses, plaid & bow

Montreal_1

Who said looking like a nerd was out?  If you read this DIY post on now sew bow-ties, you’re probably aware of my love for this charming accessory. When I bought this blue plaid shirt for less than 15$ at Simons, I knew I’d pair it with a white bow tie and glasses at least once, for a perfect nerdy look.

Now, let me tell you the story behind these new glasses. A few weeks ago, I saw a first-pair-free ad from Clearly Contacts and decided to look into it, while being skeptical about it. I looked through the selection of glasses on which the promotion applied and found these round birch frames from Derek Cardigan. I couldn’t go back then, I already loved them. I compared the measurements with my own eyeglasses to make sure they’d fit my narrow face, filled out my prescription on the website and entered the promotional code at checkout. Yes it was real. The frames and lens were free, and I only had to pay 16$ for shipping and handling. Can you believe it? Free glasses? No way! Still, I was a little skeptical about the quality (you don’t get much when it’s free these days!), but for as little as 16$, I thought it was worth the try! I was blown away when the packaged arrived a few days later. The lenses were perfectly adapted to my sight, and the shape of the frames fitted my face perfectly. The only thing I had to adjust were the branches. (With hot water and slight pressure, I did a pretty good job!). Now I am proudly wearing those statement eyewear and thanking god for the great deal!

WHAT TO WEAR / WEEKEND GETAWAY

weekend_getaway_3Last weekend, my boyfriend and I had a little getaway in Montreal. Right before leaving the weather was greyish so I overdressed myself and put on my classic rain boots. When we got there, the sun was shining like it hasn’t been in a long time, and I was stuck in a buttoned-up shirt and my sweaty feet in hot rubber boots. We walked long enough to make me regret my choices about a hundred times. This inspired me to create a comfy outfit I would have loved to wear that day! Lately, I have had a major obsession with embroidery, and this shift dress seems like a dream come true. Topshop, you got me once again.

From my closet / embroidered lace top

outfit_7

Last summer, I decided to finally jump in and have this vintage twin-lens camera tattooed on my forearm. I had been dreaming about it long enough to make sure I wouldn’t have an ounce of regret, and I haven’t. I honestly thought getting used to it would have taken longer. Along with this recent addition to my body came a slight personal style adaptation. Heavy printed patterns like all over florals just don’t fit anymore, so I prefer going for more elegant flowy silky fabrics, embroidery textured pieces, soft patterns or classic plain t-shirts.

Lately, Sammy Dress kindly sent me this flattering embroidered lace blouse, and I couldn’t dream of a better piece to dress up a comfy office outfit. I paired it with the most comfortable jeggings in the whole world (if you guys think jeans are cozy, you probably never slipped in a pair of those), and my favorite cut-out flats from a Montreal-based vintage shop called 1861.

I’ve had an ongoing crush on that ring ever since I bought it with Roxane. It has such a joyful vibe, don’t you agree? (I wore it for that style post as well, remember?).

I am really pleased with my new Kate Spade frames as well. From the moment I tried them on, I just knew I couldn’t find any better for my everyday eyewear. Out of the three available colors, I picked tortoise because it’s a little lighter than massive black on my narrow face and they still match every thing I wear!

Mix&Match / denim overall

mixmatch2

There’s something about the denim & stripes match, don’t you think? As if it was meant to be! And since I have this everlasting obsession with denim overalls, it just feels natural to mix a striped jersey with this beloved statement piece. Oh and have I been clear enough about my love for rain boots? This would definitely complete my dream outfit today, with the rainy-but-kinda-warm weather. How I wish the sun would shine! Until then, carrying my mustard shoulder bag seems like a good way to brighten up my day.

Fun fact / Last week, one of my coworker wore about the exact same outfit. I showed her my drawing, we had a good laugh about it and we ended up assuming we had very similar tastes for outfits.

Hope you guys are having a wonderful (and not so rainy) week so far! xx

Mix&Match / high-waisted striped shorts

outfit / striped shorts

I recently had the opportunity to work on a character illustration using watercolor for a friend/client. Then came the idea of drawing myself in different outfits I wear daily and outfits I would love to wear (if my wallet wished the same) to experiment my watercolor techniques. Those sketches gave birth to this new mix&match column; an ongoing serie of self-portraits that I will posting here. Hope you guys like it!

Pinning/feeling lately

pins I love

Bikes. As soon as snow melts, I plan on buying a bike and customize it. Maybe warm pink and orange paint, maybe soft minty green. I don’t know yet. But I know for sure I just can’t wait! / That one shade of lipstick I can’t get over. Probably the only reason I can think of to enjoy wintertime. / I’m quite into shelves these days, and these hanging roped shelves caught my eye! / Altought things are moving very quickly these days, I am feeling very happy and content with my life right now. Feels like throwing a party every week, and these party poppers would do just fine!
