Total excuses vs. total inspirations

These last two weeks have been incredibly fun, but incredibly full. I wish I had taken a little time to post in here, but i’m sorry I haven’t. I owe you excuses, readers. So, Mika & I have been on a great trip from Quebec to Chicago for 7 days. Really exciting. See the video I made HERE! (I really enjoyed the film making process. I might just get a new camera to explore more opportunities on that side!) And then we had a journey in Montreal, where we shopped & stayed in a charming Bed&Breakfast. In between I spent some time with my folks & just enjoyed the fact of having no alarm to wake up to.

Monday morning, back-to-work day, and i’m starting this with some inspirations. What else to start a great week?

This hanging mobile just can’t be wrong.

Yup, I do. Please Mika, can we build a wooden tree house & live there?  This print is awesome.

Woah, a custom zodiac cup. How cute !

This geometric wooden beads necklace is awesome. I want it in every colors. PLEASE.

The Gaslight Anthem – Handwritten

As you already know, I absolutely love The Gaslight Anthem. It makes me sad to write this but I have to…I am disappointed with their new album. Maybe I’m being too hard on them or something, but I was pretty sure they would come up with the best album I’ve ever heard. When I first listened to American Slang or the 59 Sound, I immediately liked them, but I don’t know, it’s just not the same. Brian’s lyrics and voice almost gives me goose bumps, they really get to me… Don’t get me wrong though, it’s played in my car every day since I got it. I still particularly enjoy listening to “45” and “Handwritten“. I’d love to know if I’m crazy or if you’re disappointed too.. Give me some feedback readers!

Let’s talk makeup

Thanks to my friends AnneMarie and Marie-Michelle, I discovered two amazing beauty products. First of all, let’s talk about Lise Watier Féline eyeliner. It is super easy to use, it can last all day without any problem and it costs less than 20$! How great is this? You can find it at any Shoppers or the Bay nearest you.

My second great discovery is Sephora’s matte top coat by O.P.I. Any of your favorite nail polishes can now be shiny or matte. It looks good on every nail polish color and I absolutely love it!

Interview with a model

She used to be the girl next door, now she’s a big shot top model. We are more than glad that lovely Charlie Hunter Paille has agreed to have an interview with us.

1. Well, first of all, what lead you to become a top model?
Being a top model isn’t a goal, you can’t control that power, industry does. But for sure I would love to! Vogue cover and Chanel ads.. would be amazing.

2. Tell us about your inspirations.
My inspiration usually starts with how I feel, different moods, different vibes. I see the collections a year before, so i like to get ideas from the very new stuff, or very old. I go to vintage stores very often, old shapes and old fabrics inspire me. I dont really have a personal style, I wear what I like and what I feel like wearing, and make clothes that I would love to see in the stores.

3. Have you had any moments in your career that made you think “Wow, this is exactly why I became a model!”?
Travelling!!! For sure! I’m really lucky to travel and meet tons of new people everyday, such an amazing experience. I have friends from Russia, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Australia, etc. I’m learning everyday, and Iearning about the world as well.

Another reason is fashion, I learn more about clothes right now than in my 3 years of fashion school. I’m one of the fitting girls for Calvin Klein, I’m working everyday for them, and I’m abble to see the collection growing, see how everything works, A to Z. It’s like school for me.

4. Are the rumors about models true? (anorexia, drugs, etc.)
We scouted me on the street obviously not because of my shoes. I’m naturaly skinny, like lots of girls. There are rumors everywhere, but for sure I’m trying to keep my body in shape, just like athletes do. Who wants to see a little belly on a Cover of Vogue ??!
And for the drugs, it makes me laugh, I saw more drugs in my high school than in fashion. Seriously, there’s drug everywhere, I’m sure my dentist use to take weed when he was a kid… or maybe not.

5. What’s your main goal in life?
Would love to say, being a huge designer and having my own show at Fashion Week! But I’ll start with being happy, and healthy. I travel a lot, see and hear lots of stories. I just wanna be happy and proud of what I’m doing and what I did. If it’s designer, I’ll be more than happy, if not, it’s because that life wasn’t for me.

6. You started your own clothing line, tell us about it!
My agent/booker in NYC owns a store here in NY, and asked me if I still wanted to be a designer and if I wanna to sell some stuff in his store. So I took the opportunite and did it. But right after I finished the collection and was ready to make the production, I signed a big contract in NY and never came back to Toronto, so it’s going pretty slow but I’m so happy to be here. If that collection never goes in production, it’s gonna be another one!

6. Have you always dreamed about modeling? If not, what kind of career did you expect?
For sure it was in my head, but I wasn’t confident enough, thought I wasn’t Ok for modelling. Someone gave me a chance and everything went really well!! Sometimes the personality of the model is more important than her look/body. Its the same for actresses.
But designer was my dream, and it still is.

7. What do you miss the most?
My family, friends. It’s really hard sometimes, but it’s a choice I made. And I love my life.

8. Which trend do you absolutely dislike?
To be honest, I respect everyone and every trend.

9. Where is fashion best represented?
Would say, New York and Paris.

10. Which clothing item would you never get rid of?
My Rudsak leather jacket.

12. What’s the best side of being a model?
Travelling and meeting amazing people.

Well ehmm ..

Yeah, because I missed out like hell lately. I’ve been so busy with the moving and all, I just couldn’t find any minutes left to be taken for blogging. But, let me tell you; this next year is gonna be awesome. Our new appartement is nothing but lovely, and I’ll be sharing with you some D.I.Y. project that I’ve been waiting to share for a while. We’ve got a whole lotta space to decorate!
