Favorite new releases from The Body Shop

aquaboost5Bikini & sunbathing season has already begun! To make the most of it, it’s important to take good care of your skin. Every one loves a good sun tan, but everyone hates damaged skin! Right? My first darling new product from The Body Shop is the Vitamine E Aqua Boost Sorbet, to keep your face nourished and moistured. It’s made from an Aquasphere technology that delivers hundreds of time their weight in water! Unlike most of face moisturizers, the Aqua Boost Sorbet has a light and fast-absorbing texture that feels very cool on the skin and keep your skin hydrated for a long time, without the unpleasant shine of some rich cream. In fact, it contains mineral particles that help absorb the oil and mattify! As for myself, the savory smell itself is enough of a reason to have a major crush on it! You can get it here (and you definitely should) for $20.

sorbet4In the same range of must-have summer product, The Body Shop just released their Body Sorbet. It comes in 5 amazing scents. I received mango, and I am seriously getting addicted to its delicious smell. It is as refreshing as the Aqua Boost Sorbet and will leave your skin feeling fresh and hydrated all day long. Perfect for hot summer days! Plus, it contains organic Aloe Vera coming from 100% Community Fair Trade, which is, to me, a very cool upside to their products! You can get it here (for only $15) !

bbcream5Now, let’s talk about skin perfectors! Have you heard about BB creams? If you never heard about it, BB stands for Beauty Balm. I’ve seen them filling the shelves of all beauty stores, but didn’t know how great it actually was until I got to try The Body Shop’s formula (which by the way, was voted #1 product by canadian consumers!). It’s a white face cream with very tiny pigment-filled capsules that burst when apply to the skin and it’s color-adapting to fit your skin tone! Perfect match and even finish, that’s what we’re talking about! I like that it’s all-in-one, because I tend to forget the face cream and use only foundation. No there’s no excuse for that! It’s available here in 4 shades for $20!

instablur6And of course, I saved the best for last! One of The Body Shop new release goes beyond hydration or skintone uniformity. I’m talking about Instablur! Instablur is a five-action perfector that leaves your skin flawless and photo-perfect! It reduces the apparence of pores, hides blemishes, controls unpleasant skin shine and unifies complexion. You have to try it to believe it! Simply smooth onto face before applying your foundation and makeup (or use alone to smooth imperfections for a no-makeup look). Althought I wouldn’t wear this product all day everyday, mostly because it feels a little heavier that my usual cream + makeup, I will probably wear it every time I know i’m going to be photographed, and on special events! The body shop also created a movement around the product to encourage none-retouched photos (all image used on their website and posters don’t alter the size or body shapes of their models, to stop women insecurities). You can join by posting selfies using the hashtag #noretouchtbs and #instablur!

Have you tried any of these yet? Or have you planned to?

This post is brought to you in collaboration with The Body Shop. All words and opinions are my own.

DIY / Daisies floral crown

daisies crown

We don’t mean to reinvent the wheel, but we couldn’t keep ourselves from having our own DIY version of floral crown here for spring. This season calls for sunny outfits, and what’s better than daisies to brighten up your look! You might actually think it is too long or too complicated to make a cute floral crown but actually, it doesn’t take more than 15 minutes and doesn’t cost more than 10$ (unless of course you buy very expensive silk flowers). Here’s how:

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • silk daisies (or any flower you prefer)
  • floral tape
  • metal wire
  • pliers
  • scissors
CRAFT IT:
  • First of all, wrap the wire or wires if your used 2 pre-cut like us) in floral tape. This tape is slightly sticky, so you have to wrap it tightly. Don’t worry if you don’t get it right at first!
  • Once this is done, make a nice circle with it, measuring with your head. Don’t make it too tight because flowers will take some place. Cut the wire excess, and wrap the edge in floral tape so you won’t hurt yourself.
  • Cut flowers from the bunch using the cutting part of pliers.
  • Attach flowers to the wire circle one after the other using floral tape until the whole circle is filled.

That’s it! You’re ready to be dazzlingly pretty with this floral headpiece of yours!

Oh and, you can also make a smaller version for you dog ;) Extra cuteness guaranteed!

Paper porn / Happily Ever Paper

Happily_ever_paper

Coming across awesome paper goods and stationary is some kind of porn for a freak like me, and that’s why I felt like changing the name of this column. Last week, I stumbled up Happily Ever Paper on Behance and couldn’t pass up the chance to share such a sightworthy shop. I was instantly drawn to their colorful stitched notebook bindings, and curated quality materials. JUST MY STYLE !

From my closet / glasses, plaid & bow

Montreal_1

Who said looking like a nerd was out?  If you read this DIY post on now sew bow-ties, you’re probably aware of my love for this charming accessory. When I bought this blue plaid shirt for less than 15$ at Simons, I knew I’d pair it with a white bow tie and glasses at least once, for a perfect nerdy look.

Now, let me tell you the story behind these new glasses. A few weeks ago, I saw a first-pair-free ad from Clearly Contacts and decided to look into it, while being skeptical about it. I looked through the selection of glasses on which the promotion applied and found these round birch frames from Derek Cardigan. I couldn’t go back then, I already loved them. I compared the measurements with my own eyeglasses to make sure they’d fit my narrow face, filled out my prescription on the website and entered the promotional code at checkout. Yes it was real. The frames and lens were free, and I only had to pay 16$ for shipping and handling. Can you believe it? Free glasses? No way! Still, I was a little skeptical about the quality (you don’t get much when it’s free these days!), but for as little as 16$, I thought it was worth the try! I was blown away when the packaged arrived a few days later. The lenses were perfectly adapted to my sight, and the shape of the frames fitted my face perfectly. The only thing I had to adjust were the branches. (With hot water and slight pressure, I did a pretty good job!). Now I am proudly wearing those statement eyewear and thanking god for the great deal!

Remember the Hot Damn lipstick shade I was telling you about it this Ipsy favorites list? Well, this is the Hot Damn shade. It instantly adds a wow factor to every outfit I wear it with!

What’s fun about this bow tie? It’s an hair clip that I turned into a collar accessory! Remember I wore it here too?

KISS Nail Dress Mix It Up

nails_1nails_2

Have you tried nail strips? Being a self-confessed nail art addict, I had been wanting to try these for a long time, but for some reason, I haven’t until this week, when I received two kits of NAIL DRESS MIX IT UP from KISS. They are pressure-sensitive adhesive that you apply on clean and dry nails to dress them with fun patterns and textures. Looking for a statement accessory? Try statement nails!

They’re easier to applier than I thought and easy to peel off, without any damaging acetone (hooray!). Mine lasted about a week (way longer than I thought in the first place!), but if you have an important event, I suggest you apply them the night before, to make sure they look their very best. Each kit contains two different designs (perfect to mix and match) and includes 40 strips (in 12 different sizes) and a nail file! You will find them at any Target store for less than $10! Have I told you how happy I am that Target finally opened up in Canada?

Here’s how to apply:

  • Prep nail with alcohol or nail polish remover
  • Choose the size that best fits your nail then apply near the cuticle
and smooth away from center of the nail downward
  • Fold decal down over the edge of the nail and file off the excess
  • Ta-daaa! You’re ready to rock your manicure!
(See this video for a visual tutorial on how to apply nail dresses! )

I’m wearing the golden ones from the Daiquiri pack (first photo) and Tania is wearing the Cosmopolitan, in the lightest shade (second photo). See those products here.

Are you going to try those? Where would you rock such a cool manicure?

Mix&Match / Polka dot shirt

outfit_3

One of my favorite recent fab find is a colorful polka dot kid shirt at Target! I had been looking at it and wishing they could do it in women size for a while until a friend told me I should just try the largest kid size. It fitted perfectly so I was overjoyed to finally take it home with me! Since it looks a little childish with its neon and glittery dots, I like to pair it with things that make it look classy but playful, like a matching blue blazer, a high-waisted skirt, bight pumps or just a large golden necklace.

Do you dig through the kids department as well?
