Paper porn / Present & Correct

presentcorrect_1

If you’ve been reading this blog for while, you probably noticed that I am quite obsessed with paper goods. To be honest, nothing satisfies me like fun stationary and clever office essentials. I discovered Present & Correct a while back and can’t understand why I haven’t shared this on this blog yet! This London-based shop is as refreshing as this interview with its founder, Neal Whittington, who started his business in 2008. With it’s brilliant and consistent branding and finely curated goods, it’s no wonder why this shop is so successful! If my wallet could only agree, I’d probably buy every item they offer, starting with those brass number paper clips! NEED this!

What’s your favorite item?

Inspiring work / Emily Blincoe

Colors are a major part of my work and everyday life. I find great pleasure in picking color palettes for my designs or bringing together colorful outfits from my closet. When I discovered Emily Blincoe’s work through her blog, I fell in love with her outfit montages for Gap Styled.by, an online project inviting fashion bloggers to share how they style their Gap clothes. Emily’s work is just fun and refreshing, don’t you think?

This pink palette puts me in such a good mood! Now I want to organize everything I own by color!

Cheers! / Collaborating with Help Ink

Remember my post about watercolor quotes? Help Ink recently asked me to collaborate with them on an inspiring typographic watercolor design for prints and cards. For those who aren’t familiar with Help Ink, it’s a collaborative project, using the sale of premium and exclusive art to help charities in an exciting way. For every 5 dollars spent, 1$ goes directly for a good cause. Awesome, isn’t it? You’d guess I was more than pleased to team up with them on such a cool project! So here’s the final result:

help ink cheershelp ink cheers

It’s called Cheers and I decided to go with a quote that simply represents pure happiness for me, through small and unsuspected pleasures, like having a banana milkshake. I’ve always been drawn to this idea of gathering and enjoying all the little pleasures in life instead of waiting for the big happy circumstances.

My print is actually on new-release sale, so better catch it before it’s back to normal price! You can buy it here. & see all the products here. Please, let me know if you buy it, and I’d be more than happy to see a picture of where you hung it! Make sure you check out the other projects too, there are some pretty amazing artists out there! (and I do have to mention my favorite typographer; Jessica Hische!)

Finally, a big thanks to Help Ink for this collaboration! Cheers!

Well done / Freres d’encre branding

Some of you might know this, my brother Alex is a tattoo artist. He’s been doing this job for quite some time now and I’m very proud and impressed whenever I see an art piece he did (no wonder why I am so obessed with tattoo designs and all!). He’s been working full-time for Freres d’Encre, a tattoo shop situated downtown Trois-Rivières, ever since the shop opened in September 2010.

Recently, the shop launched their new mind-blowing branding along with an amazing website (all credits to Carolane Godbout and Sebastien Dust Leblanc) and I thought the team and designers deserved a well-done mention in here. Do take time to check it out! And make sure you take a look at the complete behance project here.

Watercolor quotes

There’s this project I’ve worked on a few months ago, that I just forgotten to share with you! Since i’m a huge fan of typographic quotes and I had just started experimenting with watercolor, I decided to make a few colorful quotes to improve my techniques. I’ve picked up 3 quotes that really stuck to me at that time. Here’s what I came up with:

Do you like it? I’m also working on a new amazing project using the same technique that I can’t wait to share with you! I’ll keep you posted as soon as it’s done!

Designer of the week on FreshIdeas

Hi guys! I am soooooo happy to announced that I am currently featured on FreshIdeas as designer of the week along with my font that is available as freebies! You can read a short interview about my work, inspirations and future projects here. They also asked me to send out a photo of my workspace, so I cleaned it up a little bit and I thought it would be fun to share it on my blog as well so you can see where I work from home!

Introducing my first font

People who worked with me know that one of my favorite thing in design is typogaphy! One of my coworker once attributed me the title of «Typography Queen». Lately, I’ve experimented a lot in this area. This week I decided it was about time I created my first font. I used FontForge to create it since I was looking for a free software. This font is free to use for personnal and commercial use. You will find a download link at the bottom of this post. So now, let me introduce you to my first font: Fancy Me!

Work well done

This serie of venn diagrams illustration by Gerren Lamson is so beautiful, I would hang those is my living room anytime. I love that he tea-dyed archival paper. It adds so much warmth to the monochrome illustration. And you guys should really take a look at this texan designer portfolio. I fell in love with the way he presents his works.

Work well done, sir !
